A wonderful journey has come to an end, and after a LONG journey home… (longer than expected) Mercenary is back in Denmark once again.
The last show of the tour was played in Tilburg in Holland! And WHAT a show! Every band played their best and the audience was on FIRE! During the last song Symphony X played we all went on stage to take a bow and Russel said farewell to all the wonderful fans that had joined us on the “Power of Metal” tour and we all took a bow.
The bus left the venue at 1.00 in the night and we drove off to the airport in Düsseldorf where our bus was parked. The guys from Psychotic Waltz and Thaurorod where flying home but we had decided to drive (not that long a drive if all goes according to plan).
So we get all our shit out of the Night-liner and say our goodbyes! It was not easy to say goodbye to all these people we had come to love so much but hopefully we will see them again during the summer on some of the many festivals across Europe. The guys in Psychotic Waltz have really left a mark and it was an honor to share the bus with them!
Jakob picked up the bus from the parking lot and picked us up outside the terminal. We loaded up the shit… and off to the highway and home! (or so we thought!) We had only just made it to the Express way when we heard a weird sound coming from one of the tires.. We pulled over and the right back tire was flat!
Oh well… no problem right? Just needed to pull out the spare tire and make a quick change and be on our way??… (If it had only been so easy!)
Not only did we need to pull out EVERYTHING from the back of the bus to get to the tire, but our jack was broken :S..
We called up the danish auto-help ” Falck” and they send out for a truck to assist us but there would of course be some delay! So there we where stuck on the side of the Express Way in a cold bus at 5.00 in the morning! We tried to keep our spirits high though! After waiting about one and a half hour the Auto-assist guy showed up! When you call on of these guys you usually expect them to show up with this HUGE jack that almost flips over the car when they start it up.. but NOOOOOOOO… What did this guy show up with?? a petit little sorry excuse for a jack that most of all resembles the one I had in my small Peugoet 206 back in the day! Resulting in it being to small to actually do the job.. But this guy would turn out to be quite inventive…
With some pieces of wood and some balls of steel he got the job done! RESPECT! Even gave him a copy of “Metamorphosis” as a “kudos” for the ” Job well done”
So having a working tire once again, we began our journey home…The rest of the drive went pretty smooth aside from some traffic jams that delayed us further.. But hey.. At least we had our health still ;)
Some small pics to memorize the crazy situation!:
After a what seemed like an ENDLESS drive to Denmark we did actually make it home and how wonderful it is to be back even though the tour was beyond amazing!
Again THANK YOU to all the people who showed up to the shows and supported the “Power Of Metal” tour, thanks to the Crew, the Management, the bands, all the people at the various venues that made our stay SO much better! You are all amazing and we could not have wished for a better tour!
All the best
